1. Before you start — what to have ready

A few minutes of preparation saves most setup headaches. Have these ready before you touch the remote.

  • Your playlist email — server, username, password and M3U URL
  • Your device remote
  • A stable Wi-Fi or ethernet connection

2. Choose your device — 8 setup guides

3. Install the player — Google Play, APK or Downloader 2696977

There are three install routes, and your device decides which one you use. Your device guide has the exact order — here is the short version.

On Android TV, Google TV, Shield, Chromecast, phones and tablets: install Sparkle TV from Google Play on the device.

On Firestick and Android TV Boxes: use the Downloader app with code 2696977 — after allowing Downloader to install apps.

4. Add your playlist — M3U URL or Xtream Codes

With the player installed, your playlist email does the rest. Xtream Codes is recommended — it loads categories, catch-up listings and the EPG most reliably.

Open the player and choose Add Playlist.

Choose Xtream Codes login and enter the server URL, username and password exactly as emailed — no extra spaces.

Or choose M3U and paste your full M3U URL.

Name the playlist and tap Save, then wait for the first load.

5. First load, EPG and favourites

The first load downloads the channel list and programme guide, and can take 1–3 minutes on a large catalogue. After that, starts are fast.

Wait for the first load to finish — do not close the app.

Set your time zone in Settings, so the EPG lines up.

Build a favourites list of the channels you actually watch.

6. Troubleshooting — the 5 fixes that work

Almost every install problem is one of these five. Work through them in order.

  • Login failed: re-type your credentials and check capitals.
  • No channels: refresh the playlist in Settings.
  • Buffering: test your speed (15 Mbps HD / 25 Mbps 4K), restart the app and router, and try 5 GHz Wi-Fi or ethernet.
  • Empty guide: refresh the EPG and check your time zone.
  • App will not install on Firestick or Box: check 'apps from unknown sources' is allowed for Downloader.
